SEO is not something complicated and accessible only to technical experts. It’s a system of simple rules that help search engines (like Google) understand what your blog is about and show it to people looking for similar information. For the blogger, SEO is an opportunity to get free, steady traffic without advertising. The key is to know what’s important.
It all starts with keywords. These are the words and phrases that people type into a search engine. Before you write an article, think: what can the person who needs it type into the search engine? For example, if you’re writing about how to tie a tie, the key might be “how to tie a tie step-by-step.” Use such phrases in your headline, first paragraphs, image captions, and text structure. But don’t overdo it – the text should remain natural and easy to read.
The second important thing is headings. Tag (the one that is visible in the search results), title H1 (the main one on the page) and subheadings H2-H3 should be clear, logical and contain keywords. The search engine analyzes them and decides how much the article meets the user’s query.
Content should be useful and unique. Search algorithms know how to determine the quality of text. If an article is rewritten from someone else’s site or overloaded with “water”, it will not rise in the rendition. Try to reveal the topic deeper than others. Add details, examples, illustrations, lists – this makes the article more valuable.
The structure of the page is very important. Divide the text into paragraphs, insert subheadings, use lists and highlights. This makes the text convenient for both people and search engines. Don’t forget about adaptability – the blog should be convenient on your phone as well. Google evaluates the mobile version in the first place.
Loading speed also has an impact. The faster the site opens, the higher the chances of a good position. Reduce the size of images, remove unnecessary scripts, use caching.
Optimize images: give them readable file names and write alt-texts. This helps images appear in image searches and improves accessibility. If you’re blogging recipes, DIY tutorials, or travel, the visuals are especially important.
Don’t forget about internal linking. Link in articles to other relevant content on your blog. This helps keep the user on the site longer and shows the search engine that the content is related. External links to authoritative sources are also helpful – it adds credibility to your site.
Add meta descriptions (description). Although they do not directly affect SEO, they are what people see in the search engine. A good description motivates people to click on your result, and therefore increases CTR.
Lastly, publish regularly. Algorithms love active sites that are frequently updated. One quality post per week is already a good rhythm. The main thing is to write not for machines, but for people. SEO helps bring readers, but only good content makes them stay.
