In an era when a reader’s attention is measured in seconds, the ability to hold it until the last line becomes a crucial skill. A good article is not only a competent text, but also a well-thought-out structure, a catchy beginning and a clear purpose. It all starts with the headline. It should be specific, promise benefits or arouse interest. The headline is an invitation, and if it is unconvincing, no one will read further. Next is the introduction. Here you need to quickly explain what the story is about and why it’s important. Don’t take too long: the reader doesn’t have time to figure out what you’re getting at. It is better to make a promise at once – what exactly he will get after reading the text to the end.

An article that is read is always a simple and clear article. Write in short paragraphs, avoid clerical language, technical terms without explanations and excessively long sentences. Respect the reader – don’t complicate where you can simplify. Avoid water: each sentence should move the thought forward. No general phrases, empty turns of phrase, or drawn-out digressions. Information should be useful, specific and structured.

To keep attention, alternate the rhythm: long sentence – short, fact – example, thought – conclusion. Add intrigue, questions, unexpected turns. Visually break up the text: use lists, highlights, quotes. This helps to perceive the text faster. If you are telling a story, keep it logical and consistent. If you’re sharing an instruction – take it step-by-step, without jumps or ambiguities.

Emotions are another important tool. Write vividly, don’t be afraid to express your opinion or show your personal attitude. Dry text is not memorable. But also do not overdo it – everything should be in moderation. It is important for the reader to feel that on the other side of the screen – a person, not a template.

Finish not just a conclusion, but a completed thought. The reader needs to understand what he or she has read the entire text for. A good ending is either a summary of usefulness, or a call to action, or an emotion that you want to take away with you. If after reading the article there is a feeling of “I didn’t waste my time for nothing”, it means that the article is well written.
